SAINT NICKY
December 2008 – Westlife’s Nicky Byrne has revealed he is looking forward to a ‘chaotic’ Christmas with his twins as they discover Santa for the first time. The 30-year-old star said he will spend the festive season in Dublin with his wife Georgina and their 19-month-old boys Rocco and Jay. He said “I’m staying at home and having dinner with the kids. They are really starting to understand what Santa Claus is all about. At the moment they are doing everything they shouldn’t. It’s ultimate chaos”.
But father-in-law Bertie Ahern will have to make other plans because Nicky is heading to his mam’s house for Christmas dinner and then back to his own house. “I’ll be letting her do the cooking but I will offer to carry the plates in”. The singer also told the Gerry Ryan radio show he is nervous about his first solo stint away from his bandmates – presenting next week’s Childline Concert.

Nicky will brave thousands of screaming fans on the 02’s main stage on December 16 to introduce acts including Shayne Ward, Enrique Iglesias, Boyzone and Alphabeat. It is the first music concert to take place in the new arena since it replaced the old Point Depot. And the singer said he is hoping his nerves don’t get the better of him.
Nicky added: “Westlife have been heavily involved in Childline over the ears. Out of the 10 shows we have done nine. When I was asked to present this year’s show I was honoured. It is also the opening of the new 02 which I haven’t been in yet myself. And Westlife have a long running history with the Point. I’m sure I’ll be nervous on the night but hopefully that will go away. I helped host it a couple of years ago with Brian McFadden and Kerry Katona and they were as inexperienced as me. But I’m looking forward to doing this one on my own now. I suppose even for myself it will be nerve-wracking. It’s big crowd and a brand new arena. But you have just got to control your emotions, your thoughts and your nerves and just give whatever you have to, try to nail and it and be confident.
