Westlife hit the top five in the Irish chart with €35m
25 April 2010: WESTLIFE have joined the ranks of the richest entertainers in the country after their hefty fortune saw them included in the latest Rich List.
The foursome have just been named as the fifth richest entertainers in the country, with an impressive €35m fortune to their names. Throughout their lengthy career, the boys have racked up an impressive collection of number one hits, stellar album sales -- and a fortune most people can only dream of.
While their counterparts in the top five of this weekend's Sunday Times Irish Rich list are all seasoned performers who have been working for two decades or more, Westlife are relative newcomers to the scene in comparison.
However, in spite of the vast fortune they have amassed in recent years, they still have a thing or two to learn from legendary rockers U2, who ranked at the top of the list of Ireland's richest entertainers.
The iconic band, alongside manager Paul McGuinness, have amassed a staggering fortune of €487m in the past 30 years, earning €7m alone last year.
While the Lord Of The Dance himself, Michael Flatley, came in a respectable second place, his income still took a hit in the last year -- as he earned €5.7m less than in 2008.
But his lavish lifestyle is unlikely to remain affected by the loss as he is still worth a whopping €274m.
Legendary singer Enya (48) has earned an impressive €1.2m since the release of her greatest hits album last year.
The notoriously private Donegal native earned most of her fortune through her phenomenal record sales, as she doesn't tour.
And Lady In Red singer Chris de Burgh (61) is still making other crooners green with envy after placing fourth on the list with his impressive €35m fortune, adding €1.2 million to his earnings in the last year alone.
Joining them in the top five is Dalkey-based Van Morrison with €57m.

Westlife to play at Cawdor Castle
09 April 2010: The Irish boy band Westlife are to play a concert at Cawdor Castle near Inverness.
The event on Saturday 28 August will be the first concert ever to be held at the historic castle.
Promoters CK Events, who are organising the concert, have signed a five-year deal to bring other high profile artists to the castle.
Cawdor Castle has been home to the Cawdor family since it was built in the 14th century.
CK Events director Les Kidger said: "We are obviously thrilled to have secured Westlife for the first ever concert at Cawdor Castle.
"It is a magnificent location and they are a perfect fit for the audience we are aiming to attract to this exclusive venue.
"This is sure to be a great day out for all and we are looking forward to bringing many more artists of this calibre to Cawdor Castle over the next five years.
”Cawdor's proximity to Inverness with its excellent transport links to the rest of the UK and wide range of accommodation, make it an ideal setting for such events.
""We have ample parking spaces, fantastic access to the site and have been working closely with Cawdor Castle, Northern Constabulary and Highland Council officials to ensure the smooth running of the event."
The castle was the venue for the wedding reception of Take That singer Mark Owen last November.

Westlife call off big bash to jet away for Robbie's Soccer Aid
07 April 2010: Westlife have been forced to cancel the after-party they had planned to throw for their much anticipated Where We Are concert at Croke Park next June.
The pop foursome were due to host a bash for friends and family after what promises to be one of their biggest gigs ever.
However the Herald has learned the band will instead be hopping on a plane to Manchester to take part in Robbie Williams' World Cup Soccer Aid special the next day.
The boys will line out at Manchester United's Old Trafford alongside a number of celebrities on June 6 to take on a team of football heroes including Alan Shearer and Jamie Redknapp.
Robbie, who has been organising the event for four years, said he chose the date as it falls just five days before the World Cup kicks off in South Africa. A source close to the group said: "The boys were disappointed when they heard that the two dates were falling so close together.
"After a big gig like that in their home country and in front of their Irish fans, they would generally have had a few drinks to relax, but this time they'll be sticking to water so that they're on top of their game the next day.
"Nicky, in particular, would take it all very seriously and wouldn't want to let his teammates down when he gets out onto the pitch."
The dad of two (31) is a former professional football player, who was signed to Leeds United for two years as a goalkeeper, before he returned to Dublin and forged a pop career.
He and his bandmates will join celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, comedian James Corden and cricket player Brian Lara for the match.
