| Jodi's mum winning her fight with cancer says relieved couple |
23 February 2010: Westlife's Kian Egan has revealed his relief that his mother-in-law looks to be winning her battle with cancer.

Kian, who married former Hollyoaks actress Jodi Albert at a star-studded wedding on the Caribbean island of Barbados last May, said his wife's mother Eileen is now almost in remission.
Speaking exclusively to the Diary, Kian explained how the couple are finally getting to enjoy married life after what has been a year of highs and lows.
"Eileen's doing really well, yeah, she's doing great," he said. "It looks like she's coming out the other side and could soon be in remission.
"She's still got a couple of treatments left to go so until that happens we won't know anything for definite but we were told after Christmas that it's looking hopeful.
"All we can do now is wait, but 2010 is already looking a bit more positive," he added.
The Flying Without Wings singer (29) was left devastated when he lost his own father, Kevin, to cancer last July, just two months after the couple tied the knot.
However, Kian said that following this latest boost, he and Jodi are finally getting back on track and throwing themselves into their work.
He said: "Jodi's in London with the girl band at the minute recording the first album so it's all very exciting for us.
"You'll be hearing loads about that coming up in the summer."
The group, which is to be co-managed by Louis Walsh, has yet to be given a name -- there was even talk of making a reality show to find a name.
"There's talk about doing loads of different things to try and pick an actual name," Kian said. "But to be honest, I think we'll actually just try and come up with a good name.
"If someone else comes up with it, great. If not, then we'll have to think of one. We're not in any great rush with it really," he added.
Kian was delighted last Friday night when Jodi jetted into town at the last minute to surprise him after he and his bandmates were voted Best Irish Pop Act for the 10th year in a row at the annual Irish Meteor Music Awards.
The smitten couple partied into the early hours with Shane Filan, Nicky Byrne, Mark Feehily and their respective partners in the exclusive Wright Venue's VIP Scarface Suite, before returning to Britain the following day.
Also spotted in the club at the time was fellow singer, Michele McGrath, who narrowly missed out on a spot in the yet-to-be-named girl band. Since then the Assets beauty has been striving ahead with her own music career.
Next weekend will see Michele and her band Industry support JLS at Dublin's O2 and the Odyssey arena in Belfast.

| Westlife win 10th Meteor Award in a row |
19 February 2010: Westlife have scooped the award for best Irish Pop Act at the Meteor Awards for the 10th year in a row.
The awards, being held at the RDS, will be broadcast on RTÉ on Sunday.
This evening Wallis Bird won best Irish female, while Lady Gaga won best International female.
The Script beat off U2 and Bell X1 to take the Best Live Performance prize.
Colin Farrell made a surprise appearance - he presented the award for the Best International Album which went to Paolo Nutini for Sunny Side Up.
The Coronas won Best Irish Album. Snow Patrol are the Best Irish Band while Florence and the Machine won Best International Band
And Brian Kennedy has received this year's Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contribution to music.

17 February 2010: It's not all bad news for Aussie-based flopstar Brian McFadden you know. Despite failing to set the charts alight since quitting Westlife in 2004 to pursue an unsuccessful solo career, he has confirmed that he will join the panel of the hit show Australia's Got Talent this year.
The Artane-born singer has revealed how he will be joining X Factor star Danni Minogue and new recruit Kyle Sandilands as one of the leading players in the forthcoming programme.
And he is insisting that there won't be any handbags at dawn between him and his fellow panel members.
"I think the one thing the show won't have is, there won't be any bitchiness between the judges," he said. "We all like each other, but there will be no being soft on the contestants."
However, Brian was recently left fuming after his former bandmates ruled out ever performing with Brian again -- unless it was in a pub or a social situation.
Asked if they would ever re-unite with Brian again, Kian Egan instantly shot down the suggestion.
"No... he doesn't live in this country and he's not in the music industry any more. He has a new life in Australia."

16 February 2010: Nicky has been signed on to host another 2 Celebrity Sunday shows with Irish radio station RTÉ 2fm. During the last show there was an amazing amount of online chat around the world about the show and the Celebrity Sunday programme broke the worldwide top-ten trends on Twitter and also trended top ten in the UK and Ireland!
Listeners from around the world tuned to RTÉ 2fm yesterday, with people getting involved from Mexico, Chile, England, Scotland, Philippines, Ireland and Indonesia!
This really shows how many amazing fans Westlife have!
In the follow up shows Nicky will be playing a selection of songs plucked from his own personal collection which have influenced him in both life and his musical career. He may also ring one or two of his celebrity friends so be sure to tune in.

15 February 2010: Westlife's Nicky Byrne has proved himself so popular with radio audiences in Ireland and abroad that he has signed to present two extra shows for 2fm's 'Celebrity Sunday' series
Byrne's Celebrity Sunday programme yesterday broke into the worldwide top-ten trends on Twitter which is an unprecedented occurrence for an Irish radio programme.
Listeners from around the world tuned in yesterday, with activity noted in Mexico, Chile, England, Scotland, Philippines, Ireland and Indonesia. RTÉ 2fm's Twitter account twitter.com/RTE_2fm saw remarkable levels of activity as it trended worldwide.
Speaking about the show, Nicky said: "I'm really enjoying hosting my own show.more than I thought I would. It's a brilliant chance to play some of my favourite music to the nation from both the past and present.

| Westlife pop in to Clery's to Help A Dublin Child |
15 February 2010: WESTLIFE will be appearing on O'Connell Street this Friday to help raise funds for the ISPCC, the Herald can exclusively reveal.
The chart-topping band will be special guests at Clery's department store to raise awareness for the FM104 Help A Dublin Child campaign in aid of the ISPCC.
The fundraiser will officially begin tomorrow when FM104 DJs Adrian Kennedy and Jeremy Dixon will be 'moving' into the window of Clery's, spending five nights living and working there - all in the name of charity.
They will occupy four windows of the store, which will act as an unofficial bedroom, living room and studio.
The Herald has teamed up with FM104 for the ISPCC fundraiser and will be offering readers exclusive celebrity reports and diary entries from the DJs for the week-long campaign.
The event is intended to raise much needed awareness and funds for the ISPCC.
As well as the street collections, FM104 will also have a premium text line set up.
Readers can support the cause by texting "Child" to 57080 to donate €2.

| Westlife To Perform At Awards Ceremony |
14 February 2010: WESTLIFE will perform at the News of the World's Children's Champions Awards this year.
It is the second time the big-hearted band - Kian Egan, Nicky Byrne, Mark Feehily and Shane Filan - have sung at the star-studded bash, which honours those who work beyond the call of duty for kids.
Westlife, who are managed by Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell, have now sold over 45 million records worldwide.
Mark said: "We've always supported Children's Champions so it's so great to be able to come back and perform.
"Seeing the faces of the winners and hearing their stories is always really special. I know this will be another brilliant year."
The event is hosted by Chris Evans and Amanda Holden in London on March 3 and will be shown on Sky1 on March 7

Just dropping you a note to fill you all in on where we are {excuse the pun!} at the minute…
We shot our part of the Help For Haiti video this week in London…it was cool and very interesting to see how everyone will be pieced together..Kylie Minogue was shooting when we arrived so that was fun to chat to her afterwards...funny as I had her on my wall when I was 10! My first crush!! Tuesday was busy busy busy with the next stage of our tour meeting..and what a great stage design we saw!! It’s always nice to feel confident about what’s about to be built for ya and I think if we get this right it will be our best yet! If you haven’t already heard JEDWARD have been added to our support act for Croke Park show in Dublin on June 5th…will they bring Vanilla Ice?! Haha now that would be funny....! So Germany next week for official launch promo of our album, we shall be visiting lots of radio stations etc and really looking forward to seeing all our German fans…it feels like a long time! Jonathan Ross next week too!! I have wanted to do this show for years, I think he is one of the funniest guys around so that’ll be a laugh...! Well that’s it from me, it’s great to be back working and about to travel the world once again promoting our newest single and album..which like we have said before feels special!

| Westlife Star Mark Feehily Announces Engagement |
02 February 2010: Westlife singer Mark Feehily announced his engagement last week on Twitter.
The star and his boyfriend Kevin McDaid got engaged on their fifth anniversary. They have not revealed a date for their civil partnership
Feehily tweeted: "Hi guys,ITS TRUE!!! Myself & Kevin are engaged!! We are so happy! Exciting times ahead,thanks for all ur kind words! Lotsa love,Mark&Kevin x"
The singer kept his sexuality a secret until he began dating McDaid in 2005.
He recently paid tribute to the late Boyzone star Stephen Gately, who was the first member of a boyband to come out.
Gately announced he was gay in 1999, at the height of Boyzone's fame.
Following Gately's death in October, Feehily said: "Stephen was extremely brave. He was the first member of a boyband to come out, and, in hindsight, it helped me and probably lots of other gay lads to understand their sexuality and come out.
"Every time a celebrity who is admired by millions of people comes out, it's one more blow to any negative stereotype out there."

01 February 2010: The Helping Haiti Everybody Hurts single is finally finished, and will go on sale next Sunday. The final line-up of artists who lent their voices to the song reads like a who's who of the music scene. Leona Lewis, Rod Stewart, Mariah Carey, Cheryl Cole, Mika, Michael Buble, Joe McElderry, Miley Cyrus, James Blunt, Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Jon Bon Jovi, James Morrison, Alexandra Burke, Susan Boyle, Aston Merrygold, Marvin Humes, Shane FIlan, Mark Feehily, Kylie Minogue and Robbie Williams are all singing - in that order - on the single.
The song will be played for the first time across radio stations from 8am tomorrow.
