| Hop To Do It For Kids |
29 March 2009: Westlife hunk Nicky Byrne, rabbitted on yesterday, whilst at the launch of the Temple street Children' s hospital Gold Bunny Campaign.
Dad of two Nicky revealed, the 1 euro chocolate Lindt, treats will go on sale in Dublin's Dundrum Town, Centre this weekend.
TV Stars, Amy Huberman, Laura Woods and Ray Shah, will all be joining in all the fun at the centre.
This year's fundraising, target is 100,000 euros, and proceeds will help, buy life saving incubators.
To get your hands on a gold bunny, head to the Dundrum Town centre on Saturday between 9am and 7pm, and on Sunday between 10am to 7pm.

| Meteor Shows Flops On TV |
22 March 2009: THE Meteor Music Ireland Awards may be the country's biggest music ceremony, but it seems to have flopped when it comes to igniting the interest of Irish viewers.
The glitzy show, which took place at the RDS in Dublin on St Patrick's Day, saw just 162,000 viewers tuning in to see the ceremony, which was transmitted on Wednesday evening on RTE2. In comparison, TV3, which showed Jim Carrey's six-year old film Bruce Almighty at the same time, generated 184,000 viewers.
The glamorous awards ceremony featured performances from some of the biggest names in music, including The Stereophonics, Boyzone and the Blizzards. Up-and-coming band the Script were the big success story at this year's awards, winning best band and best Irish album for their self-titled debut, which was released in August.
Other winners on the night included Mullingar band the Blizzards and pop heroes Westlife, who walked away with the gong for Best Irish pop act. The coveted award marks their ninth Meteor in 10 years, and saw them beat off stiff competition from Boyzone, the Blizzards and the Coronas. "This is our ninth award and some people say to us, 'Have you not got enough', but it's always great to be nominated," Shane said of the win.

| Shane and Nicky play for a good cause |
19 March 2009: On Saturday 23rd May, Nicky and Shane will take part in a charity football match at Liverpool’s Goodison Park.
The event, named CAUSE (Children’s Aid Using Soccer Events) and organized by former Liverpool star Jason McAteer, will help raise money three Children’s Charities - Liverpool Unites, Save The Children and The Prince's Trust.

18 March 2009: A huge congratulations to the boys, who scooped the Best Irish Pop Act prize at last night's Meteor Awards.
Nicky, Shane, Kian and Mark were thrilled to have won and would like to pass on their thanks to everyone who voted for them and helped them pick up the award for the eight consecutive year!
In other news, Nicky was recently named ‘most stylish man in Ireland’ by VIP, so would like to say a big thank you to all of you who cast your votes.

| Boyzone throw birthday bash for Stephen |
18 March 2009: Boyzone proved they really know how to party last night when they threw a star-studded bash to mark Stephen Gately's 33rd birthday.
The generous pop stars splashed out more than €20,000 on top of the range bubbly for the invitation-only affair which fast became the unofficial after party of the Meteor Ireland Music Awards.
Having enjoyed a no-expense-spared spread hosted by Meteor at the RDS after the Awards ceremony, a bevy of big names decamped to the elite Stephen's Green venue to continue the celebrations and toast Stephen's big day.
The delighted singer was thrilled by the show of generosity from his bandmates and said he was looking forward to letting his hair down after staying teetotal all day.
The star told the Herald that despite it being his birthday and St Patrick's Day he had had just one glass of champagne to calm his nerves before going on stage.
He was keen to make up for lost time, however, and joked: "After that it'll be all hell breaks loose."
The Dublin native said Boyzone had also bought him "a fantastic Gucci jacket" as a birthday present. "I also got a Gucci shirt, some face creams because I love my face creams, underwear and bits and pieces," he gushed.
Among those invited to the exclusive party were X Factor judge Louis Walsh and Westlife members Nicky Byrne and Shane Filan.

17 March 2009: Boyzone and Westlife go head to head tonight at Dublin's Meteor Awards - and singer Nicky Byrne is hopeful his band will come out on top. Both bands are bidding to clinch the coveted Best Irish Pop Act Award.
Westlife have already scooped a staggering eight Meteor Awards in just ten years - but Nicky is hoping Westlife will get number nine tonight at the glittering awards ceremony. Despite collecting a clutch of awards at the ceremony over the years, winning a Meteor is still something Westlife star holds dear. "I will have the fingers crossed but just being nominated again was a big thrill for all of us," he said.
Both Nicky and Shane will be flying in for the music bash in the RDS tonight - Kian Egan and Mark Feehily couldn't make it due to other commitments. Nicky's wife Georgina and Shane's wife Gillian will be accompanying their husbands as they celebrate their achievements.
Father-of-two Nicky, who is married to former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern's daughter, Georgina, said of the awards: "I am really looking forward to the Meteors - it's always a great night. "It's great to be nominated by the fans, that's what means so much,"
The band have been off the scene since last summer - but their blistering performance in Croke Park last June might just be enough to tip the category in their favour.
Some 82,000 fans flocked to Croke Park in June to catch their band play its biggest gig. Brian McFadden recently revealed his biggest regret on leaving Westlife was missing the opportunity at the Croker gig.

16 March 2009: British consumers have been voting for their favourite Irish brands ahead of Saint Patrick's Day.
Guinness is the UK's most favoured Irish brand with alcoholic drinks taking four of the top ten brands in the poll.
Westlife came in at number three while U2 is at number five.

| Heroes unite for charity match |
13 March 2009: SOME of the world's greatest footballers are set to grace Goodison Park, Prenton Park and Anfield in a massive fund-raising initiative by former Liverpool star Jason McAteer.
The Reds hero, 37, who helped raise $550,000 for victims of the 2004 tsunami, has arranged three star-studded football matches to be played at each of Merseyside's three major football grounds, with local children benefiting.
The organisers hope to attract names like Zinedine Zidane, Oliver Kahn, Lothar Matthaus and Marcel Desailly to the first clash, to be staged at Goodison Park on Saturday May 23.
McAteer said: “We only got the go-ahead for the game on Tuesday but we have been going through Macca's little black book ever since. “We have spoken to showbiz stars like Gordon Ramsay, Tim Lovejoy and Chris Evans, while Westlife stars Nicky Byrne and Shane Filan have already confirmed their participation in the first match.

| I want Jacko’s glove |
12 March 2009: WESTLIFE star Shane Filan is planning to splash out thousands at Michael Jackson's personal memorabilia auction. We can reveal the Flying Without Wings, 29, singer has lined up a private viewing of Jacko's possessions ahead of the auction in America next month. Jackson fanatic Shane is eyeing up a silver sequinned glove and black fedora hat that the pop icon wore during live performances.
He told the Irish Daily Mirror last night: "I've always been a huge fan and I have my eye on a couple of items. I'd love the hat or one of the gloves but there's a few interesting things on sale. I can't really say more than that but I have a big interest in it".
Jacko is expected to make millions from the sale and the collection will have its world exclusive preview at this weekend.
Shane has contacted organisers and has eyed up a number of items in the extensive auction catalogues that have been issued.
The auction will be staged at the Beverly Hills Hilton over three days next month with a hoard of celebrities expected to bid for items.
Shane is unlikely to travel to the US for the auction but will instead place bids with the help of two assistants.
The singer has been a Jacko fanatic since he was six and even included a Michael Jackson medley on their last tour.

| Shafin Project |
10 March 2009: Work could begin as early as this summer on a massive €15m retail project at Carraroe which has the potential to create up to 100 jobs during the construction phase and a further 200 jobs when fully operational.
The Westlife singer described the project as a vote of confidence in the retail potential of Sligo and said Shafin Ltd was anxious to press ahead with the development as quickly as possible.
