Shane Steven Filan
Born on 5th July 1979 in Sligo, Ireland. Shane's parents are Peter and Mae. Shane has three sisters named Yvonne, Denise and Mairhead, and three brothers Peter, Liam and Finbarr. Shane loves golf and has a passion for horses. Among Shane's favourite TV programmes are: Grey's Anatomy, 24 and Desperate Housewives. Shane has starred in productions of Grease and Oliver. In Grease he played Danny and in Oliver he played the Artful Dodger. Shane has known fellow band members Kian and Mark since school. In 2002, Shane and Mairead opened a clothes shop in Sligo (a Morgan franchise). The shop was on the same land as their family restaurant. When the restaurant closed, Shane brought the land to open the clothing shop. Shane married Gillian Walsh on 28th December 2003 at Ballintubber Abbey County Mayo, after proposing in Dubai in December 2002. Gillian is the cousin of band member Kian.
Daughter Nicole Rose Filan was born on 23 July 2005 in Sligo General hospital. Band member Nicky Byrne is Nicole's godfather. On the 15 September 2008, Shane and Gillian became the proud parents of Patrick Michael Filan, who weighed 6lbs 8oz. Shane and Gillian's third child Shane Junior was born on Friday 22 January 2010 at 9.34pm. Shane is godfather to ex band member Brian McFadden's second child, Lily Sue. |
